Debbie Becomes Lead On Environment and Sustainability Project Panel

I’ve been meaning to share this, but members news has always come first. But I thought I’d share a little about the switch in roles, especially with an EGM coming up 27th April 2022.

Debbie Apted, an experienced Corporate Banking PA and Office Manager, moved to Weston eight years ago and chose to volunteer as Secretary with the Chamber as a way of getting to know the town and meet new people.

Now working as an HR Administrator with a local grounds’ maintenance company, Debbie’s spare time is spent pub quizzing or as Community Lead for Plastic-free Weston-super-Mare, co-ordinating beach cleans and other events, as well as finding ways to promote our Cleaner Coastlines campaign.

Debbie has become so busy with her Plastic Free quest that she has stepped down as Secretary to take the lead on our Environment and Sustainability project panel. However, Debbie will remain on the Executive Committee. We don’t want to lose her fount of knowledge!

Back in July 2020, Teresa Morgan was brought on to support Debbie’s secretarial role as Administrative Assistant. But she has now taken over the role as Secretary on the Committee.

Teresa splits her time between working part-time in an office, running her own business, supporting the Chamber, writing books (as Teresa F Morgan), and running around after her two sons! Yes, she could do with an extra day in the week.

Her experience includes roles in purchasing, secretarial, administration and market research, from small to large multi-national organisations. As an author, she’s had to master social media. Teresa is at her happiest baking cakes, preparing home cooked dinners (whether the kids eat them or not), reading a good book, or sitting at her PC emptying her thoughts onto the screen. She also has an obsession for superheroes and likes a cocktail (or two).

The Executive Committee thanks Debbie for her continuing hard work towards making businesses in Weston aware of the environment and sustainability.

Debbie has been heavily involved with Curry and Conversation which you can find out about here.
